Using the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

As the Grant Applicant:

Registered with Revenue
    • You must have a PPS number and an active Revenue MyAccount or ROS login.

Up to Date with Your Tax Affairs
    • File any outstanding returns (self-assessed income, property taxes, etc.)

Hold a Current Tax Clearance Certificate (or use the eTC system)
    • Apply online through Revenue.ie – Tax Clearance
    • Print or save the eTC reference number for your grant application.


For Your Contractors or Suppliers:

Registered Business with a Tax Reference Number
    • Ensure all suppliers/trades are properly registered for tax.

Valid Tax Clearance Certificate or eTC Access
    • Ask contractors to provide a valid tax clearance certificate
    • Or request their eTC number and PPSN or reference number so the local authority can verify it.

Official Quotes & Invoices
    • All quotes must be on company letterhead with business name, address, and VAT number (if registered).
    • Invoices must match the works carried out and include full contact details.

🔎 Double-check all documentation before submission—if your contractor doesn’t meet tax requirements, the local authority may not reimburse that portion of your spend.
