RAILWAY HOUSE PROJECT - COUNTY LOUTH
This fantastic property is tucked away down a lane in rural County Louth. It is a 2-storey detached cottage built circa 1780 with later 1st floor additions in 1820 and further contemporary extensions in 2010’s. It needs a number of sympathetic upgrades and work done to make it comfortable and fully habitable.
CONTEMPORARY EXTENSION
Wonderful use of corrugated sheeting to clad the exterior of this timber frame extension. One of several that surround the original house and are linked by glass corridors. We are investigating the insulation and air tightness qualities of these extensions as well as addressing some details in their completion.
OFFICE SPACE
Our primary task is to true up the old stone wall and add a layer of woodfiber insulation on all the perimeter walls to eliminate cold bridging while increasing the comfort and heat retention of the structure. A fine top coat of lime plaster skim will complete the upgrade works.
KITCHEN & LIVING AREA
We are starting with the same quality thermal upgrades to the perimeter walls as well as installing Phonestar acoustic panelling to the floor above to mitigate sound transfer in the bedroom & office spaces on the 1st floor. The contemporary extension requires air tightness and detailing to the insulation layers.
